/ Laurie Perry
I’ve been working with the absolute gem that is Laurie (Lol) Perry recently. She is an up and coming food stylist represented by Garden and one of the new breed of food stars. Here are a few images from a recent test day we did together.
/ Parkers Tavern
Just Before Lockdown I snuck into Parkers Tavern in Cambridge. In the old University Arms building they have created a fantastic hotel and a fantastic restaurant.
/ Manteca
Remember Chris Leach of 10 Heddon Street? Well he and David Carter (Smokestak) have finally got a bricks and mortar gig serving up the best pasta in London. Manteca serves fantastic crab tonarelli, oxtail ragu, some of the best potatoes i’ve ever eaten, agnolotti, focaccia, nduja mussels, pigs tail garganelli and my absolute favourite… Tortellini in Brodo. They are in Soho, central London and I thoroughly recommend dropping in.
/ Just Eat
Over the last few months I’ve created a real selection of images with the team at Just Eat. Firstly a few examples from a large series of studio still life style imagery. In addition we also created a catalogue of lifestyle images with the team at Just Eat to help give a softer more homey atmosphere to their imagery for the global market. I was once again working with food stylists Jack Sargeson and Rob Morris and Art Director Jess Elcock.
/ Galaxy Truffles
I was commissioned by the folks at Galaxy and AMV to create a series of films for Galaxy Truffles. Each strand of galaxy products is being marked with signature colours and truffles own blue and pink so we featured them as key parts of the image. We had to create various timed cuts for mobile and OOH boards as well as celebrating various occasions including a general gifting scene, valentines, mothers day, Christmas and so on.
/ Food Photo Festival
I was asked back for the 2019 Food Photo Festival after exhibiting and speaking in 2017. The Festival covers all things Food Photography, from animation and film through to marketing yourself. It is a meeting of photographers, agents, publishers, props men, food stylists, you name it. If they are connected with our strange little industry they will be there. Held in Vejle Denmark and hosted by the fantastic Gunter Beer the festival is a relatively new concept but a great way to get a global vision of what we do.
/ 10 Heddon Street
In June 2019 David Carter of Smokestak fame teamed up with Chris Leach king of pasta (Sager + Wilde, Petersham Nurseries) to create a new pasta concept. Chris is a truly knowledgable about Pasta and we have had many conversations discussing out love for Tortellini in Brodo or a real Ragu in Emilia Romagna.
The pop up was a great way to test the menu and see what works and what people were excited by. The pop up has since ended but the duo have opened a fully fledged bricks and mortar concept… MANTECA.
It was a great day shooting Chef portraits, great Italian pasta and some Interiors. They opened the day we shot so it was an intense one, they really went all in.
/ Castello Cheese
At the start of 2019 I was commissioned by the good folks at Castello Cheese to create some food photography of guess what… some of their cheeses. Their latest product is a series of cheeses designed specifically for burgers and as the unofficial “Burger Man” I was the guy to make it happen.
/ Stirred Travel / Puglia
In September 2019 I travelled to Puglia to photograph more of the Masseria and Southern Italian region. It was all for a commission for luxury culinary travel company Stirred Travel. Be sure to also check out my imagery of Stirred’s Veneto experience.
/ Stirred Travel / Veneto
At the end of 2019 I was invited to Italy to shoot for food & travel travel experts Stirred. They offer Luxury cooking holidays in Italy learning how to make great food with top chefs while sampling the regions finest ingredients. I was lucky enough to be commissioned to update their new website with fresh photography.
/ Subway / Fox Comedy on ITV idents.
Double comedy duos Seb Cardinal/Dustin Demri-Burns (Cardinal Burns) and Rhys James / Ellie White provided the voiceovers for this tasty-looking series of Subway idents I was lucky enough to direct at the end of 2019. The spots were devised by creative agency Above+Beyond and are currently airing around ITV2’s screening of Family Guy and American Dad.
/ Roadhouse / ASMR / Senti Che Buono (Sounds Good!)
A new series of commercials for Italian steakhouse chain Roadhouse. I was briefed to create three tv commercials with a loose brief of a sound designed feature around a single product for each. They wanted delicious food with a comedic twist.
/ Regenerative Agriculture
These brand new images as part of an ongoing project based around REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE. Having followed several chef friends I began to see them all visiting the same farms, chaperoned by the same man, Matt Chatfield. Matt connects farmers and chefs and was kind enough to bring me into his work of regenerative agriculture.
/ Chicago Town Pizza
Directing Commission for Chicago Town Pizzas. It’s now airing on your screens and in cinemas across the UK. Produced by Food Hall.
I love doing a job which covers both stills and film as everything feels together and consistent as one large campaign and this was no different. Billboard advertising stills of macro pizzas work alongside the film TV commercial.
/ Lipton Green Tea
A huge new series of images shooting for Lipton Green Tea and their huge selection of flavours worldwide. The brief was light, bright, natural and greens and included flavours like matcha, ginger, lemon, yuzu, lime and lemongrass.
/ Cadbury’s Bakery
I love shooting chocolate and this was no different. Shooting a brand new out of home advertising campaign for the massive house hold name that is Cadbury. They are bringing out a new range of baked goods and cakes which I was tasked with making larger than life complete with a strong headline. Seiko Hatfield styled our food and post production by Stanleys post.
/ Lipton Ice Tea
Here are a few examples of my latest work for Lipton Ice Tea. The brief was combining stills and film to create a beautiful bank of images for their international markets. The idea was all about sunshine, sun bursting through the bottles and skies filled with fruit trees specific to the bottle flavours.
/ TGI Fridays
I was asked back to shoot some more beautiful imagery for TGI Fridays new food menu. Classic Burgers, Mac & Cheese, Mozzarella Dippers, Sweet Potato and Marshmallow (no really!!) and some gorgeous desserts.
/ Snickers
Last year I was commissioned by the top guys at Jonathan Knowles Ritchie to create a brand new toolkit of images for gargantuan chocolate bar brand Snickers. From the classic bar to bites, almond to peanut butter, we have shot them all including the Crisper, my new favourite chocolate bar of all time. Like a toffee crisp rice krispy cake Snickers. Ooft!
For the foreseeable future every bar and every ad featuring snickers will feature work by myself and my fantastic team, food stylists Lucy Ruth Hathaway and Seiko Hatfield, model makers Millar Models and top assistants Sam Harris and Indi Petrucci. Special nod to the post production team at JKR.
/ TGI Fridays
A few months ago the fabulous Food Stylist Elaine Ngan and our team travelled to Sunny Watford to shoot the brand new TGI Fridays menu and images for their website, digital campaigns and on site billboards and promotions. We had to shoot the images in a small section of the restaurant and make sure the images worked for multiple crops which is always a challenge, but I think we got some beautiful images.
